Steve Knight
is a professional painter, iconographer, and elementary school
teacher in the Catholic schools of the Archdiocese of Vancouver. He
attended the University of British Columbia where he received his
B.A. in Classics in 1973. He also received his formal art training
as a painter at the same institution.
Steve has been an active member of the
Burnaby Artists Guild where
he has conducted numerous workshops in painting and other areas of
art. He is a past member of the Federation of Canadian Artists.
His formal training in iconography began in 2004 when he attended
the St. Lukes Iconography Institute in Vancouver. He also attended
the iconography course conducted by Fr. Gianluca Busi of Bologna,
Italy, at St. Gertrudes
Benedictine Monastery in Cottonwood,
Idaho, in the summer of 2006. He has completed about 20 icons in the
Byzantine style, mostly in acrylic, and mostly for individuals in
the Vancouver Archdiocese. Steves interest in icons has translated
into his conducting workshops for school children in the Catholic
schools around Vancouver.
Steve lives in Burnaby, B.C. , is
married and has three children. He is a member of Holy Cross Parish
in Burnaby.
